Hello Everybody!

by Audrey on May 26, 2006

Well, forgive me for not writing sooner. I have been having such a nice time with my siblings, and Micah and Seth work so it is hard to find time to be with them, and I am finishing school up as well. We have had thunderstorms lately, and I do like them, but I also like playing in the rain and haven’t got to because there is always thunder with it!

How is everyone?

We are also finishing up school. Today was the last day of classes. Next week we have final exams. The end of the year “Blessings” will be one week from tonight. I have lots of umbrella folks to “graduate” and am very busy processing their final grades, transcripts and diplomas.

Love to hear more about your job at school Janice. How did Emily do this year? Is Linnea at school there also? Our school doesn’t finish until July 13th! We are on half term break this next week. Everyone is adjusting well to school. Brea has a bad sore throat…and Phil is getting it. Hope it doesn’t go through the family! Any job prospects for David?

How is everyone else doing?

love janie

We are still pursuing any avenue we find for jobs. David spends all day looking on the web for jobs and applying to them. It takes a couple of hours or more just to apply online, and thats pretty much how its done in this day and age. There is a job opening at Covenant that David is going to submit an application to. He is going in a couple of weeks to talk with someone about it.

Linnea is being homeschooled still. She goes to work with me and has a little desk next to me. I organized her work for the year into a notebook with the plastic sleeves that have pockets in them – 36 weeks. She just finished her 36th week on Friday. She also helps out running papers from here to there and shredding papers, etc.

I enjoy working with the homeschool families in my job. We have over 550 students umbrellaed with us. We keep all their school records and basically act as a guidance/admissions/records for these families. I am still learning all the laws and things related to homeschooling requirements (they keep changing) and the TN Hope Scholarship, which come from the TN lottery. I am also in charge of coordinating standardized testing for these students each April. I go to homeschool curriculum fairs and sit in a booth to advertise our program. I have begun to hold free seminars for parents in our program on educational issues such as writing, testing, reading comprehension, etc. Next year I am going to (Lord willing, of course) coordinate school pictures for our homeschoolers.I send out quarterly newsletters with information our families might need, such as when ACT and SAT’s are being held, homeschool events, etc. Then I talk on the phone – ALOT – to homeschooler/potential homeschoolers about whatever they need to know. And there is a lot of mailing and computer work.

Anyway, thats my job.

Janice
