Proverbs 14:21

I have been reading in Proverbs lately, so I thought I would post a verse or two that stand out to me every once in a while. Today, one of the verses that stood out to me is Proverbs 14:21, “He who despises his neighbor sins; but he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.

I think poor could be anybody around us. Some are poor in friends. Some are poor is social graces. Some are poor in confidence. Some are poor in “smarts”, etc. To be aware of these things and to be merciful to others is a blessing both to you and to the one receiving your mercy. It develops people and relationships and points us to God, because He is merciful to us.
