Well, finally I have a moment to sit down and give you all an update on our new adventure…Covenant Christian School. We just finished our first four weeks of school and are now on Easter holiday. I am very pleased with the school and pretty much everything about it. It is parent run and taught which gives it sort of a large homeschool kind of feel. It is flexible like a homeschool but organized and equipped more like a regular school would be. The classes are challenging…especially English but C and J are adjusting. The kids are great and since I help with the teaching I am getting to know all the students. Joshua loves his science class and Caleb thinks his maths teacher is great. Bryce loves it all. He is reading well, loves maths and of course loves playtime outside. Brea is the only one who is having a bit of trouble adjusting. She was sick (all of us were) and missed about a week of school. After that she was anxious about going and especially about lunch and recess. I think we figured out that she didn’t like the times when there wasn’t clear direction and control by the teachers. I think we have sorted it out…and her last two days of school before break were great. You could pray for her though.
I get to teach a music class and a sports class to B and B classes on Mon and Tues afternoons. I also help with sports on Weds with J and C classes and Phil also comes along. Thursday I help in J and C’s maths class. That is a bit of a challenge because they have a few different ways of ‘doing’ their math here…different terms and procedures (like saying “maths”). I am learning along with the kids!
Caleb had all the boys in his class and Joshua’s class over to celebrate his birthday. Which is only 3 boys, Dan, Ollie and Thomas!! They had a great time. Caleb told me that the last two weeks have been the best since coming to England!
Pray for Joshua also. He missed the last 7 days of school home sick. He still isn’t completely healthy even yet.
So life here in England goes on. We still miss so much about home but I think we are slowing making this new place our home! Pray that we will continue to make friends, enjoy our life and continue to be used in ministry here. We have seen God working in many ways but some days are harder that others—which is probably true no matter where you live!!
Love to all, janie

Thank you for the update. Now I know how to pray for your children more specifically.

Oh, it does sound like a wonderful school. It reminds me of when we did KONOS curriculum in Chile with some other missionaries. I do miss you all very much, but it sure sounds like your all quite involved in different things. It makes me want to be more involved in things here! We have been having thunderstorms here of late. Do you get thunderstorms?

I’m so glad the school is working out! It sounds fun.

Sounds like a good setup.
I am very encouraged to see how God has blessed you with such a good school and to hear that you all seem to be adjusting well, overall. It is so refreshing to be reminded of God’s goodness. Why do I forget so easily?
