Prayer for my family

by phyllis on May 5, 2009

We have shared with some of you some of the struggles my family have been going through. My Dad has Alzheimers which has been progressing and as a result my Mom has been very depressed. Wed will be a hard day as the grandsons who have been living with them for about 10 years will be moving out. All of the siblings have agreed this is necessary for financial and other reasons but it is very hard for Mom to understand and we are worried how she will take this all even though we are trying to put various things in place for her health and care as well as Dad’s. We have tried to move forward with much prayer and counsel. We want to be Christ like. It is a spirtual battle as well– it is not just one issue but many. Several things have been very painful. Gary has worked tirelessly to help my family work through some of these things as many things have been swept under the rug for many years. We know the Lord is working and are hopeful. Surgery is painful even though you know it will bring healing. Thanks for your prayers.

I will pray that this new change will be easy for your mom. I know you have done what you can. Bless you for honoring your parents by loving them so well, even when its tough love. I will pray still for your mother’s depression.

We all will get old and face some difficulties. Some we can understand because they are common. Others are more difficult because they effect others. Ever since I had an inkling of the nature of you struggles I have been praying for you. We went through something of what you face for several years with Judy’s mother Dad & Judy

We will continue to pray about this situation and that God would grant you all strength and sustain you through this.

Yes we just got back today— we were gone 10 days and we are very tired. Many good things happened– Dad was really good almost the whole time. Gary was able to “preach” the gospel to my Mom each day as well as to my siblings via the blog and was very helpful in so many ways. My siblings and I (especially) are so very thankful to him. The whole process of moving the grandsons out would not have happened without him and without your prayers. My Mom still wavers in how she feels which is very hard on me and my siblings. We pray she will see the good of it soon. There is already a better atmosphere in the home and Mom and Dad slept thru the night every night after they moved out.
