Thank you all very much. Phyllis took me out to eat lunch, but then she had to go to work. I think we’re going to celebrate a little more tomorrow. I did get a birthday present today–a Kindle.

Gary, I’ve heard of Kindle. Exactly what is it?

Kindle is a digital book reader created by Amazon. Along with the reader, Amazon has created (and continues to create) digital versions of books that can be read on Kindle. The reader weights about 10 ounces, and has a screen that makes it easy to read under any lighting conditions (unlike a computer screen). It can hold 1500 books, so theoretically you could carry a whole library with you. You can also load your own writings on it and carry them around. The Kindle has a cellphone-like connection to the internet that allows you to download books from Amazon.com whenever you are within cellphone range. Once you purchase the Kindle, there is no extra charge for using this download network. Kindle versions of books are cheaper than hard copy versions. You can also highlight, make notes, and create bookmarks. There are a few improvements I wish they would make–and they probably will in the future. If you go to their website you can see a picture of it, and also some videos explaining how it works.
