After midnight on April 13th we had the worst wind storm we’ve had since we lived here. Trees and power lines were down all over the region. At 4:00 AM the electricity went out, and just came back on again a little while ago (over 12 hours later). Here are some pictures that show our adventures today.

Here I’m creating another way for Andrea to get out so she could go to work. Notice she’s not driving her own car. You’ll see why later. Also we had to get Audrey to the doctor. She was sick and in pain (turned out to be a virus).

Fallen Tree
I had to create another way out because that was faster than moving this huge pine tree that fell across our driveway.

The wind hurled this large branch 8 inches into the ground.

Starting to cut our way out.

The driveway is cleared

Andrea’s car after the wind drove some branches into the back windshield.

WOW!
Man. This is serious. Any other damage to the car besides the window?
Oh my! I’m glad you all are safe! Will insurance cover the car window?
We were watching the weather and saw that there were strong storms in your area. So sorry about the car, but I am sure insurance will cover it. Be sure to examine your roof to see if any damage there, for insurance will cover that too. Did you have hail? Did the car get any water damage? Dad
Whoa! I am glad that the tree in front of our house didn’t fall.
Miraculously, there doesn’t seem to be any other damage to the car. There was no hail that we know of and little or no rain. Just wind. The insurance will cover it except that we have a 500 dollar deductible and the cost will be less than that. They are coming today to put in a new windshield for about 230 dollars.
I drove through some golf ball size hail on the way home Friday. To my knowledge, I never lost power at my house.
Gary, I am glad there was no more damage than that. Nathan, did your car suffer any hail damage?
