I have been taking part in my Co-op’s drama class this year. It is a lot of fun and our director is amazing. Up till a few weeks ago, we were reading our play aloud in class. The play is called I Remember Mamma, and it is based on the book ‘Mamma’s Bank Account’.
Last Friday, we had auditions. It was followed by a long week of mentally bighting my fingers, my fingernails having already been chewed off the previous week. I was far more nervous to find out if I had been given a part than I had been when I auditioned.
The week before, I could always bury my nose in the lines, memorizing them to (hopefully) perfection. This past week however, there was nothing I could do to alleviate my nerves. I was left with the feeling of a person waiting helplessly to hear the jury’s verdict.
After all that nervous tention, the day finally came, and with it, a sence of calmness. I was fairly certaint that I had done well, but I was not jumping to conclusions. I did not want to be dissapointed if I didn’t get the role I had tried out for.
Once class started, it seemed like Mr. Deen took forever to get to the cast list. I clapped loudly for each of my friends as they were given their role. Then, he came to the part that I had tried out for, the aunt, Trina. I tried to keep my breathing steady, as I hoped, yet prepared myself to clap for another. He said that he had been impressed by this girl’s projection, and that although she was new to the group, he thought she whould do well with Trina. This didn’t hearten me at all, since only first year drama girls had tried out for Trina, except I hoped that the projection part had been true of me. And then he said her name. Kathryn Brauer. I could not keep the gigantic smile from my face as I rose and went to recieve my cast list paper. I continued to beem as my classmates clapped for me.
This moment, was truly one of the pest in my life. I hope that I will be able to do Trina’s part justice in our preformances this March.

That’s great!! Break a leg… as they say.
Well done! When is the play?
Congratulations, Kathryn! That’s wonderful! I can’t wait to see you perform!
congratulations! Maybe I can see a preview over Christmas.
Thanks everyone. As you can see, I’m pretty excited about it. We preform in March, but I at least, do not know the exact date yet.
No wonder we haven’t heard from you in a while. I am happy for you. Will anyone be recording the event?
WOOHOO! Congratulations, Katie!!!!!
Way cool, Katie!! Does Trina have many lines? Congratulations!
I don’t think we will be recorded…unless it’s a private party thing.
yes, Trina has lots of lines…when they are all added up. I am not intimidated by them very much though because Trina does not appear in every scene, and most of her lines are short. She is supposed to be a very shy and timid woman.
I’m so excited for you! That sounds like loads of fun.
Congratulations on getting the part that you wamted. When does the production take place? Grandpa Tom
CONGRATULATIONS! I am so excited for you!!!!!!
I’m very happy for you, Katie–congratulations!
