I made this one up, so it’s probably not very good and is going to be guessed fairly quickly.
Who is the queen of the sea, yet dwells not in the that great blue deep, who gently rocks as a mother with a child, and all near her change identities once a year?

Could it be the wind? I feel stumped…
not wind
it’s a place. Emily might know what I’m talking about, if she thinks back to…
I don’t understand “and all near her change identities once a year.” I cannot quite get the flow of that part of the sentence 😳
think carnival, what place has a famous carnival where people would look different
this is hard…
I know Emily’s been thinking about it. We were painting her room and discussing it. But I don’t know. Maybe she has come up with something.
carnival? Do we know this place?
Is it in the USA?
Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans have famous (infamous) carnivals where people masquerade as something they’re not. Also, there’s the Carnival Cruise lines.
It is not in the USA, and it is none of the places Uncle Gary has mentioned. Tell Emily to try to remember what we used to listen to at night in Oklahoma. That’s practically giving it away.
Venice?
Actually, I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called. But we listened to a story on CD about a girl and a mystery…I forgot what happens, I just remember it was the place with the gondolas.
Is that what you were thinking of?
Emily
I think I remember now, in the story there was going to be a carnival, and they were all wearing masks.
yea, Venice, good job Emily. wow, I really shouldn’t have posted this.
I am so glad that you posted it, Katie! It made for fun conversations around the table and on the blog!
Yeah! I’m glad, too.
