Hey everybody!
For those who don’t know, I recently had the opportunity to travel to London, England, with my senior graduating class from May 26 to June 4. I did a bit of journaling while I was there, not to mention a lot of picture-taking, so what I thought I’d do is post my journal from each day of my trip (explaining what we did/saw that day) and post a few pictures/videos from that same day. Without further ado, here’s day 1:
Tuesday, May 27
With few hours of sleep to go on, the FCS seniors awoke to begin their trip in London, England. We arrived at 9:31 AM, London time, but I didn’t feel too much jet lag. We took a one-hour bus ride to our hotel, on which our tour guide, Tony, gave us the background of the city and explained various sights we saw. London, he said was 650,000 sq. mi. with a population of 7.5 million (more people than live in all of Norway). Oh, and our bus driver’s name was Norris, which I thought pretty cool.
Our hotel, Thistle City Barbican, has rather small–tiny, actually–rooms, though it is a four-star hotel. We took the London Underground Subway (aka the “Tube”) to various places throughout the day: Dr. Grant showed us Westminster Abbey, various parliament buildings, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Big Ben, Jewel Tower (the last surviving piece of the original Palace of Westminster), and Covent Gardens, where we spent our evening eating and shopping. I bought a new shirt from H&M, and I was proud to say I spent less than £10 for both lunch and dinner together. I really enjoyed my first day in Europe, my first day out of the U.S.A., and I look forward to taking more pictures, seeing more sights, and learning more things!

Sorry about the picture of Jewel Tower–I’m not sure how to flip it around.
Oh, it is so neat to see the pictures and hear about your trip. I cannot wait to see how the story unfolds 😀
You can change the orientation in iPhoto before you upload it. Or had you done that? Nice pics.
Thanks James. I am looking forward to reading all your journal entries.
Thank you for sharing all of this. It is very interesting. It reminds me of some of the pictures the girls came home with after their trip to England and also most recently as well as many that the AW’s and Nathan have shared. Wow! That is a lot. The journaling is helpful too.
Looking forward to more!
