God the Father

Seth,
I have been thinking about your desire for clarity on the Trinity. I’m not sure what I have on my mind will be helpful for you, but I will try to convey some of my thoughts.

I think we need to understand who God the Father is. Job 38-42 and Isaiah 40 are passages that put into perspective for our fallen minds the greatness of God. When we get this perspective, we cannot help but praise, honor, worship God our Creator and Sustainer! And isn’t that what we were made for….to glorify God and enjoy Him? And remember, that Jesus Christ is part of that! In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God. All things were made by Him. And without Him was not anything made that was made.

God our Father, Creator, Sustainer, provided for fallen man, His creation, in becoming man in the flesh in order to redeem His fallen people. Another occasion for praise, honor, worship! And another mercy on His people, He indwell the hearts of His people in the form of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible says He inhabits praise. So when we have the proper perspective of God, we cannot help but praise Him. And when we Praise Him, He comes to inhabit that praise. The importance of praise and worship (not just in church, but daily, minute by minute) in relating to God is vital.

I don’t feel qualified to give advice, but I trust God’s Word!

Love,
Aunt Janice

Seth, for some reason I couldn’t do a “submit comment” when I was trying to, so I wrote a new letter called God the Father, but it was a response to this entry.

Thank you, Aunt Janice, this is helpful. I wonder if somehow I was deemphasizing Christ’s divinity and the unity of the three persons. I think I had lost sight of Christ’s integral and inseperable role in God’s plan. Would it be inappropriate, anybody, to say that God’s acts are done as a family?
