The other day, my doctrine professor gave a cool analogy. He said he was once on an island somewhere evangelizing to some kids. I can’t remember exactly how he said it, but it went something like this:
I pointed to a bird and told the children that God made the bird to live in the air. I then asked them, what would happen to the bird if it went in the water? The children responded, “It’d die.” God made the fish to live in the water. What would happen to it if it was out of the water? The children responded, “It’d die.” God made us to serve and love him, so what would happen if we didn’t do that? The children responded, “We’d d–(hesitation, and then with awe) We’d die!”
I’ve been thinking lately how I don’t really want to follow or love God whole-heartedly, but that’s what we’re made for! And it’s not as if it’s a drudgery, as I often think, but it’s an adventure.
A cool analogy

I like it.
It is a vivid analogy. I guess I better start livin’ 😀
Wow, I like it too!
Wow! I never thought of it that way before.
I like the analogy.
I love analogies, and this one is really good.
Uncle David
I find that analogies can often paint clearer pictures than other explanatory methods.
