Our Family Website

This site was started on November 18, 2005. So we’ve been using it for almost two years now. Actually more like 22 months. It currently has 748 posts. That averages out to approximately 1 post per day (34 per month). Here is a chart showing the number of posts per month over that period of time.

Do you see any patterns here?

There have been 3,519 comments during these 22 months. That’s about 160 comments per month, and a little over 5 comments per day. There are 37 posts without any comments, but only 2 since January 2007.

We presently have 75 pages of posts. The number of pages can vary depending on how I set the page limit. I currently have it set up to show 10 posts per page. You probably know that you can navigate through the pages using the pop-up box found at the bottom of each page. You might find it interesting to look through past posts every now and then to see what was happening back then, and how the Lord has answered prayer and brought us along.

We have 20 participants in this website–at least counting those who login using their own username. I think Sharon and Woody and Katie all use the same username. So that would make 22. And I think Linnea has used Janice’s username if I’m not mistaken. But yesterday Linnea asked me for her password, so be on the lookout for Linnea to be participating more. There are 28 potential participants listed in the category section.

For me this site is a modern way to write letters. Not that the old-fashioned way of letter writing has no use anymore, but there are some advantages to writing letters on a website. You can write one letter and it goes to the whole family no matter where they are. They can receive it pretty much instantaneously. Everyone can respond pretty much instantaneously. You can easily include audio, photos and movies. And we have in our possession a historical record of the letters–a record that can be shared with future generations.
