Katie is taking HS chemistry and needs a scientific calculator. She will also be taking pre-calculus next year. At this point we do not anticipate any further career in math science. For those of you who recently went through high school, do you have any recommendation on a scientific calculator that would best meet Kate’s needs?

The one we were told to get is a graphing calculator — a TI84. (Texas Instruments) James thought she might need graphing for pre-calc.
Thank you. You all must know that when I went to school we used a mechanical calculator (slide rule). Of course, in those days we also trudged through the snow to school by foot (up hill both ways) whereas today everybody rides.
