Hooray! I’m finally finished with school! It’s been a long year. My Omnibus course was really difficult. It’s amazing to think the kids that go to Veritas do this stuff for seventh grade. How can they do it?
Swim team is going great this year. We have a few new faces amongst our team as well as several of th old ones. a few weeks ago we had an inter squad meet. That’s a meet where we divide our team into two separate teams and swim against each other. this is so the coaches can see what we can do. I usually swim freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. I’d like to put in a special thanks to Aunt Janice for teaching me to swim in the first place.
This year they told me what I was swimming at practice, those same three. I was not surprised. but due to some light thunder and a little rain, the meet was canceled. Of course, there was no thunder or rain after I received the call. We rescheduled, and the coaches didn’t say anything about any changes they had made so I assumed I knew what I was swimming.
I did ok until it came time to line up backstroke and I realized I had no clue what lane i was in. I ran to my coach to ask her, when I heard my name announced as one of the next people swimming! I had to dash all the way across the pool to the diving block, and the swim 50 meters sprint! 25 meter sprint running + 50 meter backstroke = 75 meter sprint!
After Breaststroke, I settled down to watch the butterfly events and cheer my heart out for the relay teams. I was sitting there, trying to get warm (the water was warm, it was just cold outside) when I again heard my name announced. This time for butterfly! so at first I was thinking “Alright there must be some mistake.” Then I felt panic. I had never actually done a 50 meter of butterfly before. and then it was just shock. I got up on the block just in time. I dived in, and my goggles popped off! In a usual meet, I would have gotten disqualified for it, but I was tense enough without having to swim it without goggles, so i stopped and put them back on. Then I swam butterfly as well as I could. I funny, I thought I did terribly, but all they said was my legs weren’t staying together as much as they should have been.
So, after that surprise event, I went to my coach who told me I was in a relay as well. Relays are really fun though. They are almost as fun as screaming at the people swimming them. I was glad because my slowness didn’t effect my team much. We came in first with second only an inch behind!
So that’s my summer so far. I hope your not bored with my boring life. I tried to make it sound as interesting as I could!
YYYAAAYYY!!!!!! + Swimming

Katie, great to hear from you. I was sitting on the edge of my seat and wish we could have been there to see it all. See you soon. Aunt Phyllis
Wow, sounds like your having a lot of fun! I wish we could watch you swim! 😎
Thanks for the very interesting report.
I don’t like the butterfly. My nose always feels funny afterwards.
Oh, man! I would be so nervous if I was called to do something I wasn’t prepared for.
Not boring at all. I like you’re swimming stories.
Wow! Sounds like you made the best of a very stressful situation. Good Job!
