Yes we are still here. Here is a short note to update all on recent events.
1. About a week ago we had an unfortunate experience in the kitchen. It seems a pot of chicken was forgotten on the stove for several hours. The water boiled out and most of the charred remains turned into smoke. This has initiated a spring cleaning in several rooms of our house after a quick trip to the deli.
2. We enjoyed a visit from Adam, Kristen, Jake, Joe, and Ginny a week ago Saturday at our new pub/restaraunt in Reamstown. It was a very enjoyable day. Ginny has a semi-understandable vocabulary which we will soon be educated on.
3. Drove to Adam and Kristen’s last Friday night to pick up their air purifier to assist in eliminating charred chick odor.
4. Attended a presbytery meeting (Sesquahanna Valley Presbytery) as a commissioner for the first time in a long time. It was a blessing to sit in on several examinations for men seeking to be ordained to the ministry and to meet others in our presbytery.
5. Sharon and I have been going to market several Saturdays with our antique wares. We’re not selling all we’d like but we’re pleased. It is really fun to have someone treasure an item we found and are offering to others. On Wednesday I purchased at auction three early currier prints originally printed in the 1840’s. There was not much interest in them so I got them for $3 each. I thought to myself they would look good in our house so it wouldn’t trouble me if we didn’t sell them. Yesterday Sharon sold two of them for $20 each.
6. Was part of the worship team this morning. I do this about once every six to eight weeks. It is encouraging to have members of the church tell me they appreciate my leading in prayer.
7. I’ve found time to completely mulch the back bed (of two) yesterday. This year I’m really going to try and keep those weeds from taking over and encourage our flowers to grow.
8. Most of the clothes in our closet have now been washed and the burnt chicken smell is not as prominent as it used to be.
9. We exchanged emails with Lisa Roessler, our German high school exchange student who will be staying with us. She comes on or about August 10. We are all looking forward to having her and perhaps we will have an occasion to have you meet her sometime during the next year.
10. Sharon has had early hours at work for the last several weeks. On Mondays throught Wednesdays she starts at 6:15 AM. I’m trying to use the extra early time for useful activities, but I must confess I sometimes go back to bed for another 45 minutes of rest. We are not terribly successful in getting to bed early, in fact as I write this post it is almost 11:00 PM and we will be starting the week with some sleep deprivation if I don’t finish this soon.
11. So here’s a quick run down of whats been going on.
God is doing things here and I trust where you are too. Praise His Name.

It’s sure amazing what a burnt pot of chicken can cause! Sounds like you all are keeping busy, and it looks like you are having fun (I refer to the antiques, gardening, anticipating a German exchange student!). I would love to meet Lisa Roessler!
Katie, are you done school?
It is so good to hear from you!
Thanks so much for the update. We appreciate hearing from you.
Yeah Audrey, I’ve done lots of school, but if you wanted to know if I was done WITH school, then no I’m not.
Sounds like you have lots going on. That’s so cool that you bought the ealry currier prints for three dollars and sold them for twenty! How fun.
Sorry about the burnt chicken. Doesn’t sound pleasant. Thanks for the update.
Good to hear from you all.Whenever I can come up for air, I’ll provide an update as well.
Wow! Y’all are busy! But it sounds like it’s all edifying and fun, except for the chicken. Is the Reamstown culture a “late” culture – i.e. staying up later rather than getting up earlier?
When we first moved to Reamstown we couldn’t find anything open after 8:00 PM but a grocery, pharmacy, and gas/convenience stores. Little by little there are places staying open later. There are a lot of folks going off to work as early as 5:00. At least three times a week Sharon has been getting up at 5:30. Woody
Wow! 5:00 is way too early for how late I go to bed 🙂 Though I might not mind it if I could change my late-night habits. Do Reamstowners tend to get up that early because work starts earlier or because of long commutes?
