A Prayer to Encourage You

by Jannylynn on April 27, 2007

O God,

Your ways are perfect, bringing souls to righteousness.

Struggling is never fun, but it separates the wheat from the chaff. It proves the identity of the one being tested.

Your people who are found faithful, will be found obedient.  Obedience through struggles is different than just doing good, because the obedience becomes a determination — a conscious, decisive act of faith, which goes against our natural self.  Doing good can be an act of obedience, but might also be done out of selfish motives.

The joy of Your salvation is beyond expression.  It lifts our spirits to soar above pain.  The faithful, who remember and know that joy, who trust in its truth, will be able to obey through struggles.  Lord, just like the Israelites, we forget so easily and let the deceiver tell us its not really true — not to trust Your salvation; that You have forgotten us, left us.

It is the same old lie through all generations.  And what are lies for?  Why, to conceal the truth!

Our salvation is real.  Your are ever present and active with Your people. You are accessible, even always with us.  Your words are always true.  Your promises will never be revoked; they are ours to count on.

Praise our faithful God for who He is and what He promises to His children! May we walk in trusting obedience in the One who created us and redeemed us for His own!

(Inspired by Exodus 16:1-4)

That is a helpful way to think of obedience! Obedience with faith.
