Update on Allen’s Health

It seems like it has been and continues to be a long journey as Allen recovers. Mid-February Allen got some kind of flu-like virus that lasted about a week. But about a week later, Allen started having really bad head pain, and his words were confused. We went to the ER in Columbia twice in one week because they could not figure out what it was, and they finally sent him to Vanderbilt. There they discovered that the likely culprit was a brain abscess. Meanwhile, Allen was having seizures and worse speech confusion. They did surgery and started him on strong antibiotics as soon as possible. Since then, he has been getting better everyday! We came home from the hospital on March 1st, and it has been a good time of healing and recovery, especially since we’ve been staying with my parents, who have been helping us tremendously.
