I’m Still Dreaming of a White Christmas

by James on January 2, 2006

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! We had a good Christmas; how about everyone else? The weather man predicted snow for Christmas Day, but he always does and it never comes. That’s the problem with Nahville weather: it’s so volatile. Right now it’s 75 degrees outside; our entire family is wearing short-sleeve shirts and I’m sweating. Oh, we sing “Walkin’ in a winter wonderland” and “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas”… and then we go outside and play in the sprinkler and drink ice-cold lemonade on the back porch. Well, not really, but it is warm enough, I think. I don’t think it’s allowed to snow in Nashville… At any rate, Happy holidays, and I hope to see everyone again soon!

P.S. Happy Anniversary to Adam and Kristen!

James,

We had a half inch of snow a couple days before Christmas. And on Christmas morning we had what they call here Hoar Frost – a thick frost where everything is coated thickly, like a snowfall. So it “looked” like snow, even though it wasn’t. I can’t even imagine 75 degrees! That’s about as warm as we get in the summer here!

I wish it felt more like New Year’s. But, it is kind of nice to wear shorts again. It won’t last long. But, alas, we probably won’t get much, if any, snow this year.

I know how you feel, James. Snow seems to elude our family. We went all the way up to the Adirondacks of New York to visit an aunt and uncle. They often talk about how much snow they get in the winter. Well, we were there like three days and a couple of times it snowed a few nanometers. My uncle said that it usually snows a lot–except when people from Georgia come up. Fortunately, there was still some ground snow left over, so we were able to sled some. Regardless of the snow, we still had a lot of fun. There was a heavy snow fall the morning we left.

I also know what you mean James, though, I think I might personally be the problem about the apparent lack of snow where there should be plenty 🙂 When we went out to lake Tahoe with the AWaldeckers it didn’t snow either!!! BUT it did snow the day I left (I left early because I had to get back to college)!!!
