About two weeks ago I was driving back from Virginia Beach from a wedding and to help pass the time, I worked on a poem. Below is the finished product.
Neigh, I am Brave!
There he stood, frozen at the fringe.
The sight below—it made him cringe.
The clash of swords, the bloodied spears!
They churned his gut and stirred his wildest fears.
But was he not of noble breed,
A line of strong and fearless steed?
Yet now he dwelled on peaceful glades,
On juicy pears, and fields with softer blades.
Then came nigh an agent of means
With tasty words but not worth beans,
“See thou the grass beyond the fence?
I give it thee if thou but trot there hence!”
Then came to mind an ancient phrase,
One he was taught ere he could graze:
“Eat horsey sauce to make you glad,
but shun the saucy horse, for it is bad.”
“Neigh, I am brave! Neigh, I am strong!
To linger longer would be wrong!
Get thee hence thou saucy horse!
For I would eat but only taste remorse.”
Now he heard the one in saddle,
With a jolt he poised for battle.
He yearned the fiends to disarray,
And at the word, he charged into the fray.

Wow. How did you remember all that when you got back? Pretty cool.
That’s great, Seth! I really like it! Sounds like something that could be put into song 😀
Fun words.
Insightful!!
I love it! You should write more often.
